School Profile
Overview
Founded in 1984, the mission of Brooklake Christian School is to provide a superior values-based education from a biblical worldview. To provide an education that will enable students to thrive academically, physically, socially, and spiritually. Brooklake Christian School meets all the requirements set by the Washington State Department of Education, and is affiliated with the Association of Christian Schools International, Principals Association of Christian Schools, and the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce.
Admission Guidelines
Brooklake Christian School is a selective admissions school looking for students whose lives, achievements, and goals best exemplify the mission of BCS. New students entering kindergarten or above are required to complete an Entrance Evaluation and a personal interview. Results from the Entrance Evaluation and teacher recommendations play a significant role in admissions.
Curriculum
As a Christian school, the majority of our textbooks and teaching materials are obtained from publishers with a biblical worldview. We use publishers such as A Beka, Bob Jones, Association of Christian School International, and Concordia. All BCS curriculum is reviewed annually to assure the highest quality for our students. Curriculum is chosen based on extensive research and best practice standards.

Discipline
We believe that discipline:
- means "training that molds character"
- motivates students to learn
- teaches self-control, which is its ultimate goal
- sets limits for the student's personal benefit
Discipline is not designed as punishment, but as an appropriate consequence for an inappropriate choice or action. BCS utilizes a card system in its disciplinary process for violation of school or classroom rules:
- 1st Offense: Verbal warning
- 2nd Offense: Yellow card/Notification sent to parents
- 3rd Offense: Orange card (depending on grade, loss of 5-10 minutes of recess time)
- 4th Offense: Red card (loss of entire recess period, notification sent to parents)
- 5th Offense: Blue card (student required to meet with Administrator of Student Affairs)
Community Service
Giving back is a part of the philosophy of Brooklake Christian School. Each year the students of BCS raise funds to sponsor needy children, they participate in fundraising or food drives for disaster relief, and hold an annual canned food drive to support local food banks. Each class also selects an annual project to provide relief for a specific area of need locally or around the world.
